Charity Runner. Dad. Advocate.

My Story

I’ve been a runner all my life—from local 10Ks to cross-country peaks—but my biggest "finish line" was the birth of my son, Tommy Bruce Claxton, in 2024.After going through the heartbreak of multiple miscarriages with my wife, Samantha, I decided to turn my love for long-distance running into a mission of hope. In 2026, I am running one half marathon every month to raise money for charity and celebrate the resilience of family. Thanks for following along on this 12-month journey

January

Tissington Half Marathon & 10k Weekend

This was my first Half Marathon of the year.I had never done this event before, but know Tissington Trail well after spending many hours walking it with Samantha.Fully enjoyed it and managed to finish in a time of 2 hours and 52 seconds

FEBRUARY

Rasselbock Running - The Butterfly Effect - Birdwing

This proved to be a very wet and windy event! It was a challenging route compared to what I am used to, focused on a mixture of gravel paths, trails (including lots of mud) and roads.I thoroughly enjoyed it, using my newly purchased New Balance Hierro V9 trail running shoes.Onto the next one!

MARCH

Monsal Trail Half Marathon

This will be my first time running the Monsal Trail Half Marathon, although me, Samantha and Tommy have visited before!I am hoping that the weather will hold out, after the deluge of rain and snow on the last Half Marathon I did at Shipley Country Park. There is something exciting about the Peak District, it holds a strong place in our hearts, as me and Samantha used to spend most weekends there before Tommy came into out lives; we will be spending a lot more time there once Tommy grows up a little more!

APRIL

I am currently raising £350 for Tommy's Charity by Running the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2026.Donations of any value are hugely appreciated
